• Where are Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella products made?

  All our products are made in Italy. We are proud of the Florentine craftsmanship we preserve, where artisanal traditions have been perpetuated across generations.

• Where can I find the ingredients of a product?

  Ingredients are listed on our products’ packaging and on the product pages of our website. If you have any further questions, please contact our Client Service.

• How do I choose the right fragrance?

  Choosing a fragrance is a personal matter that will call upon your emotions and memories, it is an imaginary journey that is unique to each individual. If you would like advice on choosing a fragrance, you can contact us and share with us your olfactory preferences. You can also visit one of our boutiques, where a fragrance expert will guide you in choosing the fragrance that makes your heart beat faster.

• My perfume seems different to how I remember it.

  Our fragrances are always created equal, but a difference can be assessed individually based on your mood and environment. We recommend to keep your perfume bottles in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and to use your fragrance within 36 months from opening.

• I am under the impression that the scent on my skin does not last long.

  This also can depend on the environment and also on the weather in which you wear the fragrance. We never change our fragrances unless an ingredient is classified as a potential allergen by IFRA, the International Fragrance Association.

• Does your company test on animals?

  We do not: we strongly believe that cosmetic animal testing is not necessary and should be eliminated worldwide.

• Are your products vegan?

  Most of our products are vegan, but some of them include non-vegan ingredients like honey or milk. If you are interested in specific products, please contact our client service department and we will get back to you as soon as possible with detailed information.

• How does Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella conduct product safety testing?

  One of our priorities is to ensure the safety of our products and the well-being of our consumers. We work diligently to ensure that our formulations and packaging meet the highest standards and comply with regulations in every country where our products are sold. The ingredients used in our products have been tested and found to be safe when used as intended. Our strict product safety process includes review, evaluation and testing of both ingredients and finished products.

• After applying Acqua di Rose on my face, I feel a burning sensation.

  All distilled waters (Acqua di Rosa, Acqua di Fior d’Arancio and Acqua di Erba di Santa Maria) may contain small quantities of essential oil. Some people with highly sensitive skin may react even at the lowest concentrations. In this case, we recommend using distilled waters either on the body (where the skin is usually less sensitive) or diluted in bath water.

• How can I refill the Melograno in Terracotta?

  The Melograno in Terracotta cannot be re-perfumed as they are hand-made in our laboratories in Florence, where they are immersed for a long time in tanks with fragrant oils until the porous terracotta is completely soaked. It is in fact a process that cannot be repeated at home. However, we would suggest moving it to a smaller environment to grasp the last nuances of the fragrance, or enjoy it as a decorative object.

• How can I extend the life of Pot Pourri?

  We recommend adding new Pot Pourri to the one already exposed so that its essential oils revive the previous one. We invite you to carefully close the Pot Pourri package every time you remove a quantity from it. 

  It is also important to consider the size of the room to be perfumed, and to select a quantity consistent with it. Keeping the Pot Pourri away from wind and intense lights ensures that its freshness and concentration of essential oils are preserved longer.

• How long do your home diffusers last?

  The average lasting of our home diffusers is three months, although this may vary due to several factors, such as room temperature, humidity and season.

• I would like to receive some samples. Is it possible?

  Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to sell or ship individual samples. 

  As an alternative, we can recommend our Discovery Kit, containing 8 of the iconic fragrances of the Firenze 1221 Edition: Acqua della Regina, Angeli di Firenze, Fresia, Melograno, Pot Pourri, Rosa Gardenia, Rosa Novella, Tabacco Toscano.

• What is the product shelf time?

  We invite you to look at the PAO (period after opening) on the packaging of your product. It is the time we ensure the formulation retains its full powers, starting from the date of opening.
