Provenance and Formulation
All products of the Officina are crafted in Italy, rooted in the Florentine traditions of craft and knowledge that have been cultivated and passed down since 1221.
A complete ingredient list is provided on the packaging of every product and on the corresponding page of our website. Should you have any further questions about a specific formula, our advisors will be pleased to assist.
Every formula and finished product is tested to meet the highest regulatory standards across every market where our products are sold. The Officina reviews each ingredient and finished product through a process of rigorous evaluation and testing. Our fragrances are formulated in accordance with IFRA guidelines and are only adjusted when an ingredient is reclassified as a potential allergen.
We do not. The Officina has long held that cosmetic animal testing is unnecessary and should be eliminated entirely. It is a position we hold with conviction.
The majority of our formulas are vegan. A small number include ingredients of natural origin such as honey or beeswax, in keeping with the Officina's long tradition of working with the botanical world in its fullest sense. Should you wish to know about a specific product, our advisors will be happy to provide.
Fragrance
Fragrance
Choosing a fragrance is one of the most intimate of decisions, shaped by memory, mood and the singular way a scent unfolds on your skin. Should you wish for guidance, we invite you to write to our advisors and share your olfactory preferences, or to visit one of our locations, where our fragrance experts will accompany you through the Officina's world at your own pace.
The way a fragrance is perceived can vary with mood, skin chemistry and environment, and it is one of the qualities that makes each encounter with a scent genuinely personal. To preserve the integrity of your fragrance, we recommend storing it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and using it within 36 months of opening.
Longevity varies according to skin type, humidity, temperature and the nature of the fragrance itself. Drier skin tends to hold scent for less time, and applying an unscented moisturiser before your fragrance can help. We also recommend applying to pulse points and allowing the fragrance to settle without rubbing.
Our distilled waters, including Acqua di Rosa, Acqua di Fior d'Arancio and Acqua di Erba di Santa Maria, are prepared with small quantities of essential oils which may, in rare cases, cause a reaction on particularly sensitive skin. Should this occur, we recommend applying these waters to the body rather than the face, or diluting them in bath water. If you have any concerns, our advisors are available to discuss the most suitable products for your skin.

To preserve the integrity of your fragrance, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. We recommend keeping it in its original packaging when not in use. Each fragrance should be used within 36 months of opening, as indicated by the PAO symbol on the packaging.
The Melograno in Terracotta cannot be re-perfumed at home. Each piece is hand-crafted in Florence and prepared through a process of long immersion in fragrant oils, allowing the porous terracotta to absorb the fragrance entirely from within. This process is unique to our Florentine laboratories and cannot be replicated. As the fragrance diffuses over time, we suggest moving the piece to a smaller room to appreciate its final notes, or allowing it to remain as an object of quiet beauty.
To revive Pot Pourri that has begun to fade, add a portion of fresh Pot Pourri to the existing blend; the essential oils of the new will enliven the old. Keep the package closed between uses and place the Pot Pourri away from direct light and draughts. Consider the size of the room: a greater volume will be needed in a larger space.
Our home diffusers last approximately three months on average, though this will vary depending on room temperature, humidity and the time of year.
The shelf life of each product is indicated by the PAO symbol on its packaging, the open jar icon followed by a number of months. This represents the period after opening during which the formula retains its full efficacy and quality.
